About the position
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead a critical Workforce Management (WFM) transformation programme within a dynamic retail environment.
This initiative focuses on replacing a legacy, end-of-life platform with a modern, scalable solution that will enhance operational efficiency, payroll accuracy, and workforce optimisation.
You will play a pivotal leadership role in the Design & Investigation Phase, shaping the future-state solution and delivering a validated blueprint and investment case for executive approval.
Key Responsibilities
As a strategic delivery lead, you will:
- Drive the creation of a comprehensive WFM solution blueprint, including scope, approach, assumptions, and delivery roadmap
- Lead integration assessments and technical architecture definition, covering interfaces, data flows, and non-functional requirements
- Establish and manage programme governance artefacts, including:
- Integrated delivery plans
- RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies)
- Dependency mapping
- Decision logs and reporting cadence
- Validate programme costs and timelines for build, test, and implementation phases
- Deliver Investment Committee (IC)-ready inputs for the full business case
- Lead cross-functional collaboration across:
- Retail Operations
- HR & Payroll
- Information Security
- Finance
- External vendors
- Orchestrate vendor engagement, including enterprise WFM platforms (e.g., UKG), to validate solution design and configuration options
- Facilitate structured workshops, drive decision-making, and present clear executive-level decision packs
- Own programme governance and risk management, ensuring:
- Payroll continuity
- Regulatory compliance
- Operational stability
RequirementsExperience & Skills
- Extensive experience in Senior IT Project / Programme Management within enterprise environments
- Strong background in retail, HR, payroll, or workforce management (WFM) domains
- Proven track record of delivering design/discovery phases, including:
- Solution blueprints
- Validated cost and timeline estimates
- Executive-ready submissions
- Deep understanding of WFM processes:
- Forecasting & scheduling
- Time & attendance
- Pay rules and exception handling
- Demonstrated ability to manage:
- Complex dependencies
- Multiple stakeholders
- Vendor ecosystems
- Governance frameworks
Nice to Have
- Exposure to UKG or similar enterprise WFM platforms
- Experience in large-scale, distributed retail operations (e.g., store networks)
