About the position
Job Title: Senior HR Generalist
Job Purpose:
We are seeking a seasoned Senior HR Generalist with 5–7 years of HR experience in industrial or engineering environments, strong knowledge of Employment Equity (EE), Skills Development, BBBEE compliance, and Non-Conformance Report (NCR) management, and proficiency in HRIS systems (Payspace, ERS, Acumatica). The ideal candidate will drive operational excellence, support strategic HR initiatives, and ensure full compliance with labour legislation and HR best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Operations & Compliance
- Manage employee relations, grievances, and disciplinary processes.
- Ensure adherence to labour legislation, company policies, and HR procedures.
- Handle NCRs related to HR processes and implement corrective actions.
Employment Equity (EE)
- Coordinate and implement EE plans, reporting, and committee meetings.
- Monitor progress against EE targets and advise management accordingly.
- Ensure legislative compliance and stakeholder engagement for EE initiatives.
Skills Development
- Develop and manage the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR).
- Liaise with training providers and SETAs for effective skills development programs.
- Track and report on training interventions and ROI.
- Oversee apprentice rotations in the training centre and ensure workshop compliance.
BBBEE Compliance
- Support the implementation and monitoring of BBBEE strategies across HR functions.
- Maintain accurate documentation for BBBEE audits.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance BBBEE scorecard performance.
KPI & HR Reporting
- Compile and submit monthly HR KPIs to management.
- Prepare reports highlighting HR trends, risks, and achievements.
- Ensure data accuracy and timely reporting of HR metrics.
Talent Management
- Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, performance management, and succession planning.
- Contribute to employee engagement and wellness initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources Management or related field.
- 5–7 years of HR generalist experience, preferably in heavy industrial or engineering environments.
- Proven expertise in EE, Skills Development, BBBEE compliance, and NCR handling.
- Strong knowledge of South African labour laws and HR best practices.
- Experience with SETAs and EE/BBBEE auditors is advantageous.
