About the position
A leading FMCG company in South Africa is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Group Finance Officer. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with extensive experience in the FMCG sector and a proven track record in financial management, reporting, and strategic decision-making. This is a critical role responsible for overseeing group financial operations and driving financial performance across multiple business units.
Role & Responsibilities:
Oversee group financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of management accounts and statutory financial statements.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes across all divisions.
Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity, optimizing financial efficiency across the group.
Develop and monitor financial policies, controls, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management and the board to support business growth and operational decisions.
Coordinate internal and external audits, liaising with auditors to ensure smooth and compliant audit processes.
Supervise and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
Support M&A activities, investment appraisal, and business development initiatives from a financial perspective.
Ensure accurate and timely taxation, VAT, and statutory compliance across all group entities.
Requirements:
Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is essential.
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a finance leadership role within the FMCG sector.
Strong knowledge of IFRS, corporate governance, and financial regulations in South Africa.
Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for multi-entity groups.
Solid analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing finance teams.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel/Power BI skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. High level of integrity and attention to detail.
