About the position

JOB DESCRIPTION

JD is a sports fashion, multichannel retailer of branded sports and casual wear, combining globally recognised brands such as Nike, adidas, Puma and The North Face, with strong private labels such as Pink Soda and Supply & Demand, to provide an elevated consumer experience.

JD Sports will be the exclusive retail partner to TFG and will further bolster our existing Sports positioning, with our Sportscene, Totalsports and Sneaker Factory stores already being the destinations of choice for athletic and leisure sports apparel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To translate the broader JD Sports strategy into priorities and objectives for the South African business.
  • To act as the main channel of communication between JD Sports and TFG.
  • To lead and deliver on the JD Sports strategy by managing and coordinating a multifunctional team to execute set functional objectives and targets.
  • Monitor results and steer the business and team to attain success. Maximise team performance through ensuring the best use and allocation of resources.
  • To optimise business profitability across omni channel retailing, through superior customer and employee experiences leveraging of, data informed decision making, a strong stable supply chain, and processes for an efficient flow of goods from concept to consumer
  • To optimise and deliver on all set KPI's which include:
  • Financial targets
  • Budget forecasting, control, and expense management
  • Inventory management
  • E-Commerce trading targets
  • Customer acquisition, location, and expansion strategy
  • To build and maintain strong relationships with JD partners, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders that align to our purpose and values
  • Ensure alignment and compliance to JD Sports standards, policies and procedures
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years working experience at a management level, preferably with cross functional experience
  • A relevant tertiary qualification
Skills:
  • Exceptional financial acumen, analytical ability, and a solid understanding of the retail business mechanics that drive all KPIs
  • Strong written, verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • High resilience and agility with the ability to work well under pressure and deliver to aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to drive change, persuade and influence both internal and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional leadership skills including the ability to motivate a cross functional team and a talent pipeline
