RFG Foods is looking for an exceptional, passionate and energetic Senior Quality Assurance Technologist to join our Fruit Canning Team based in Tulbagh, Western Cape.
Required Qualification and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Food Science or Food Technology
- Minimum 3 years experience in similar role in a food processing operation
- Excellent knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Excellent knowledge and experience on Food Safety Management Systems
- Advance Computer Literacy (MS Office) EXCEL, WORD, POWERPOINT, OUTLOOK
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizing, planning skills
- Excellent communication skills on all levels
- Ability to be pro-active, thorough, self-motivated, customer focused
- Ability to work in a high-pressured environment

Responsibilities:
- HACCP Team member
- Food Defence team member where applicable
- Manage Quality Assurance and Quality Control issues for the Fruit Cup line
- Be vigilant on floor, raising non-conformances and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions
- Ensure upkeep of hygiene and sanitation program including pest control
- Engage all departmental teams including but not limited to the following:
- Production; Maintenance; Procurement; HR; Stores, Labelling and Warehouse;Service provider for the Fruit Cup Line to ensure production of safe legal product.
- Manage the Fruit Cup Line laboratory and respective QCs to ensure smooth effective operation
- Ensure effective maintenance of the food safety and quality management system documentation
- Ensure System Document Control and SQA System Documents are up to date.
- Assist in reviewing of system documents where required
- Conduct validations and verification of process controls and sanitation controls for the Fruit Cup Line.
- Investigating customer complaints and ensuring that corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Verification of quality control records
- Coordinate Mock Recalls and Traceability Exercises internally and during External Audits. Provide feedback on performance to the relevant teams
- Conduct training on site as required
- Conduct Internal Audits and ensure closure of non-conformances raised. Trend where applicable
- Assist the Technical Manager in External Audits ensuring that all systems documents are up to date and assist in closing out non-conformances raised during these audits.
- Complete projects as assigned by the Technical Manager
- Conduct any other duties assigned by the Technical Manager in line with the food safety and quality management systems requirements and business-related activities.
