Senior Financial Manager
Location: Potchefstroom / Westonaria
Our client, a well-established and growing manufacturer in the construction materials industry, is seeking to appoint a dynamic and commercially minded Senior Financial Manager.
This opportunity is ideally suited to a driven finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys working beyond the traditional finance function.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the financial strategy of the business while contributing to customer engagement, business development, and commercial initiatives. This is a highly visible role requiring strong financial acumen, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to build lasting relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the CFO in the financial management and strategic direction of the business.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
- Analyse financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Oversee cash flow management, working capital, and financial controls.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with annual audits and the preparation of financial statements.
- Partner with operational teams to drive business performance and informed decision-making.
- Engage with customers and key stakeholders to strengthen relationships and support commercial objectives.
- Assist with business development initiatives by providing financial insight and commercial support.
- Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to evaluate opportunities, pricing strategies, and customer profitability.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and reporting.
- Mentor and support members of the finance team where required.
Minimum Requirements
- BCom Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent financial qualification.
- Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles will be advantageous but are not essential.
- Minimum of 5–8 years' relevant financial management experience.
- Experience within manufacturing, construction materials, industrial, or FMCG environments will be advantageous.
- Strong commercial and business acumen with the ability to contribute beyond the finance function (marketing)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial systems experience.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to build relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- A proactive, energetic, and hands-on approach with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
