Senior Financial Accountant – Income & Expenses
Location: Dunkeld, Johannesburg
Reporting to: Finance Manager: Income & Expenses
Overview
An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Financial Accountant within a dynamic Financial Services Centre. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and performance of income and expense accounting, with a strong focus on financial analysis, compliance, and continuous improvement.
This is a high-impact, commercially aligned role, ideal for a CA(SA) who enjoys working with numbers andunderstanding the story behind them.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and analyse Head Office IT income and expenses against budget, identifying and explaining variances
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
• Compile and review Board reporting packs (IT related)
• Manage and account for borrowings and finance costs (internal and external), ensuring compliance with agreements and timeous payments
• Support the annual budgeting process for IT expenditure and finance-related income/costs
• Prepare audit schedules and liaise with internal and external auditors
• Review accounting reconciliations and resolve reconciling items
• Provide technical accounting support to the business
• Engage with internal stakeholders and respond to queries with a strong customer-centric approach
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and standardisation
• Lead and manage a small team (minimum 3 staff members)
• Participate in and drive ad hoc projects
Requirements
• CA(SA) qualification is abolutely essential - do not apply if you are not a CA(SA)
• Minimum 4 years’ post-articles experience in a commercial finance environment
• Strong experience in:
o Financial reporting
o Budgeting and forecasting
o Variance analysis
o Borrowings and finance cost accounting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, basic macros)
• SAP experience advantageous
• Strong leadership and ability to influence and guide a team
