Senior Financial Accountant

About the position

A well-established international chemical raw material company requires the above to be responsible for the full finance function, overseeing and supporting the South African business entity.
Minimum requirements for the role:

• A bachelor's degree or diploma in accounting or financial management is essential for this role.
• Previous experience having worked within a financial accounting role is essential.
• The successful candidate must have a good understanding of South African tax.
• Previous experience having worked on Navision or a related ERP System is preferred.
• Previous experience working for an international company is preferred but not essential.
• The successful candidate must be a good team player, dedicated, flexible and have exceptional organisational and multi-tasking skills.
• Must have the ability to prioritise and to handle various duties as well as have a good problem-solving ability.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Handling the full finance function, overseeing and supporting the South African business entity for this international agricultural company.
• Processing all financial transactions from source documents to the financial statement level, including year-end entries, as well as adjustments and payroll processing.
• Ensuring customer payments are received on time and supplier payments are made on time.
• Preparing annual financial statements.
• Preparing the annual audit file and submission of documents to the external auditors.
• Submitting statutory and other returns, e.g. workmen’s compensation and the annual return.
• Processing bank entries and bank reconciliations.
• Processing of foreign and local purchase invoices, bank entries and bank reconciliations, overhead invoices etc.
• Preparing annual budgets and cash flow forecasts as well as preparing and analysing the monthly management accounts.
• Preparing and submitting provisional and annual income tax submission as well as submission of vat and employee taxes to SARS.
• Reconcile Emp501 and process Supplier payments and debtors and creditors.

Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
