About the position
A well-known water treatment solutions company requires the above to perform advanced installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of water treatment equipment across all disciplines within the Gauteng area.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- A technical diploma or similar qualification in water treatment, environmental technology, mechanical, electrical, or a related field or equivalent experience is essential for this role.
- A millwright qualification is preferred for this role.
- Previous field service experience working within the water treatment equipment industry is essential.
- Must have a strong understanding of water treatment processes (e.g., filtration, chemical dosing, disinfection, softners and RO) within the boiler and cooling water markets.
- Proficiency with troubleshooting and repair of water treatment equipment is essential.
- Experience working with SCADA systems, PLCs, and basic instrumentation is pref.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
- Must have excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
- Must have effective communication and leadership skills to mentor and support junior team members.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (OSHA) and compliance requirements within the water treatment industry is preferred.
- Experience having worked with industrial control systems and automation technologies is preferred.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Performing advanced installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing of water treatment equipment systems at customer sites.
- Providing expert technical support, mentoring Junior Technicians, and ensuring safe and compliant operation of equipment in a variety of municipal, industrial, and commercial settings.
- Leading the installation, commissioning, calibration, and maintenance of water treatment equipment, including pumps, filtration systems, softners, RO, disinfection systems, sensors, and chemical feed systems on boiler and cooling towers.
- Diagnosing and resolving complex issues with treatment systems, including mechanical, electrical, and control components.
- Conducting preventive maintenance and inspections to optimise system performance and reliability.
- Serving as the primary on-site technical expert and main point of contact for customers, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
- Interpreting technical drawings, schematics, P&IDS, and manuals to perform troubleshooting and repairs.
- Providing mentorship, training, and guidance to junior technicians, ensuring knowledge transfer and skills development.
- Maintaining detailed service documentation, including service reports, compliance logs, and calibration records.
- Supporting system upgrades, retrofits, and modifications as needed.
- Adhering to all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards during field activities.
- Collaborating with internal teams, including engineering and project management, to resolve complex technical issues and ensure project success.
