About the position

Introduction

PeopleSolved is currently recruiting for a Senior F5 Engineer, for a 6-MONTH CONTRACT opportunity to deliver on a project with one of SA's leading banks, based in Johannesburg.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain the stability, security, and availability of the F5 environment through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and incident resolution.
• Lead the planning and implementation of changes, working with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business needs.
• Provide expert-level support for the F5 estate, resolving complex production issues.
• Operate within an IT Service Management (ITSM) framework, using Remedy for Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
• Participate in standby/on-call rotations and be available for after-hours maintenance and deployments.
• Support crisis management calls for rapid incident resolution.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Matric and relevant tertiary qualification.
• F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator (F5-CA) certification.
• Expertise with BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM).
• Minimum 8 years' experience in F5 implementation and troubleshooting in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of ITSM processes and Remedy experience.
• F5 Technologies: BIG-IP modules (LTM).
• Scripting & Automation: iRules proficiency.
• Networking: TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, load balancing.
• Security: SSL/TLS offloading, certificate management.
• Monitoring & Logging: Splunk, SolarWinds, or similar tools.
• Cloud & Virtualization: AWS exposure and F5 VE deployments.
• Troubleshooting Tools: Wireshark, tcpdump.
• Operating Systems: VLOS and TMOS (latest versions).
