About the position

Postion Summary:
iThemba LABS seeks to a appoint a Senior Electronics Technician.

Key Responsibilities:

• Daily activities related to the development, maintenance and testing of high-power power supplies and related equipmentIdentify and remove/replace faulty equipment or components on the power suppliesRepair, test and reinstall faulty componentsPerform functional tests on all new and repaired electronics Interacting with users to identify and solve problemsStandby duties and overtime work as and when required

Minimum Qualification:

• Bachelors Degree / Advanced Diploma / NQF 7

Minimum Experience:

• 5-5 years

• B
• Tech Electronic Engineering or equivalent (NQF 7) or equivalent

Experience:

• 5 Years’ experience in Heavy and Light Current Electronics, Control systems and Instrumentation maintenance

Knowledge:

• Operational knowledge of electronics and automation systems Experience in fault-finding techniquesPCB design and layoutExperience in Linux systemsExperience in PLC programmingGeneral understanding of particle accelerators and related physics in a research environment
• General understanding of radiation safety
