Senior Electrical Project Engineer

About the position

MAIN PURPOSE
The main purpose of this position is to plan and manage project orders from inception until delivery. Ensure Projects are delivered on time, within specifications, and within budget.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Matric
• A recognized and relevant post-matric technical qualification (B.Eng Electrical, B.Tech, National Diploma)
• Minimum 5 years experience in the electrical manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 5 years experience in project management.
• Computer literacy – good general computer knowledge and experience as well as Windows, Outlook, MS Word, MS Projects, and MS Excel.
• SAP will be advantageous.
• A valid driver's license.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review project documents and requirements: Technical, commercial, and contractual.
• Liase directly with client for any electrical design requirements, in conjunction with the engineering department.
• Manage invoicing milestones between commercial department and client.
• Ensure projects are run within the guidelines for company terms and conditions and or as per the contract.
• Document register and transmittal process must be controlled by the project engineer, this includes incoming & outgoing documents. Document controller resources are available to assist at the engineer’s discretion.
• Responsible for creating and updating MS project schedules and customer progress reports. This must be done in cooperation with the PPC team.
• Facilitate internal and external stakeholder meetings, ensuring proper stakeholder management.
• The project engineer will be responsible for arranging all logistics for each project which includes, but not limited to, 3rd party inspection requirements.
• Knowledge of Incoterms are preferrable.
• Arrange client FAT and manage requirements for client to attend FATs.
• QC and Testing are performed by the QC team. Project engineer to engage with QC Team to ensure we meet the quality expectation.
• Installation and commissioning on-site are performed by the site team – under facilitation and support from the Project Engineer.
• Attend site meetings and customer meetings as required.
• Assist Proposals team with technical and commercial information including tender meetings when required.
• Perform any reasonable requests from the leadership team, this can be, but not limited, to design and technical engineering solutions.
• Comply with company health and safety policy, as well as ensure ISO 9001 requirements are met.
