About the position
The Water Engineering team of an internationally respected engineering consultancy is currently looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer experienced on water projects to join them in working on innovative and exciting infrastructure projects in South Africa and globally.
The position can be based in the Durban, Johannesburg or Cape Town offices.
Project input will include:
- Provide technical input for substation construction, refurbishment, and upgrades.
- Conduct electrical distribution studies and design HV/LV electrical power systems, control systems, SCADA, and telemetry.
- Offer support and training to junior staff and the wider team.
- Participate in or lead studies for project planning and contract documentation.
- Contribute to the development of sub-consultancy agreements.
- Attend client and multi-disciplinary meetings.
- Visit project sites and provide specialist advice and support to colleagues.
Requirements:
- BSc / BEng. or BTech in Electrical Engineering degree
- Professional registration with ECSA (or other appropriate institution)
- Experience in a professional Electrical design engineering capacity either within a consulting environment or working closely with a consultancy, Understanding and experience of the SANS 10142-1, national and international standards
- Understanding and experience of producing and interpreting complex or detailed design drawings and documentation.
- Specialist knowledge: either developing or developed within at least one specialist area of Electrical engineering.
- Experience of working in roles where knowledge of Electrical engineering and in particular, design, was a key attribute.
- Knowledge of relevant design tools, techniques and related methods e.g. IT systems, Trimble etc. Competent with design software as well as other standard products.
