About the position
Our client in the EPCM industry is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with over 10 years of experience to join their dynamic project execution team. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading the electrical engineering discipline on complex, multidisciplinary projects across mining, infrastructure, energy, and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of electrical systems on complex EPCM projects.
- Perform detailed electrical design including power distribution (LV, MV, HV), MCCs, substations, earthing, lighting, and protection systems.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and data sheets.
- Prepare electrical engineering deliverables such as SLDs, cable schedules, load lists, and equipment specifications.
- Coordinate with other disciplines (civil, mechanical, instrumentation) for integrated project delivery.
- Interface with clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure successful project execution.
- Conduct technical evaluations and vendor document reviews.
- Support procurement and construction phases with technical expertise.
- Provide mentoring and leadership to junior engineers and designers.
- Ensure compliance with local and international standards (SANS, IEC, IEEE, etc.).
- Manage budgets, schedule, and change controls for electrical scope.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and site inspections as required.
Requirements
- BSc / BEng in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in electrical engineering within the EPCM environment.
- Must be professional registered with ECSA (PrEng)
- Experience across full project lifecycle: feasibility, FEED, detailed design, procurement, and construction support.
- Sound knowledge of SANS 10142, IEC, and other applicable electrical standards.
- Proficiency in electrical design tools such as ETAP, DigSilent, AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar.
