About the position
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Draughtsperson to deliver technical drawings and designs using CAD and Revit, with a strong focus on Electrical Services projects, including Solar PV, battery systems, and microgrid developments. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and managing draughting workloads and resources, overseeing progress, and ensuring clear communication with stakeholders throughout the full project lifecycle. The position requires a detail-driven professional who can balance hands-on technical delivery with coordination and leadership to support high-quality, efficient project outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Key Responsibilities:
- Producing drawings on time for the allocated projects
- Quality assurance of drawings
- Issuing of drawings and managing drawing registers
- Participate in the co-ordination process
- Resizing and rerouting of services when required
- Resolving clashes between services and with building elements
Duties: Technical:
- Concept or baseline drawings from sketches by Project Engineer or modification out of library.
- Tender drawings from input received from Engineers.
- Coordination drawings from input received from Engineers and other professionals.
- System coordination with other services and fitting into building in conjunction with the Project Engineer
- Assist with Reviewing of installation drawings received from subcontractor against tender drawings.
- Detail design and engineering on projects as requested by engineers.
- Assist with site measurements of existing installations for which no drawings exist and constructing "as built" drawings from these measurements.
- Assist with reviewing of equipment submissions in terms of space and weight allowances, performance and compliance with specifications.
- Assist with Equipment selection, space and weight requirements, and coordination
- Production of shop/installation drawings from input received from engineers.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Qualifications:
- Matric (with Math and Eng in HG)
- Draughting Diploma
- Dip Engineering
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of practical experience in the field of CAD draughting.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Electrical Services.
- Autodesk Revit MEP will be beneficial.
Skills:
- Computer Literate, MS Office, Outlook
- AutoCAD MEP 2012
- Autodesk Revit MEP 2013
- Navisworks Manage
- Reading Proficiency & -Comprehension: Be able to understand and comprehend technical/legal documentation.
- Communication Proficiency: Be able to clearly liaise, communicate and collaborate with clients, team members and suppliers.
- Professional Relationships: Must continuously build and nourish the professional relationships with clients, suppliers and peers.
- Detail Oriented: Attention is required in every aspect of the works.
