About the position
Our client, a global professional engineering and project delivery services company, is looking to hire a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to be based at their Pinelands, Cape Town offices (with travel to client sites on an as and when needed basis).
Minimum Requirements:
- Recognised Tertiary Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 7+ years' post-qualification experience in a similar position within the mining/ EPCM/ related sector
- Must have strong design experience
- ECSA Registered as Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist- highly advantageous
- South African Citizen or Permanent Resident of SA
- Based in Cape Town
- Build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and co-workers.

- Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables
- Demonstrated ability to achieve consistently high standards within both budgetary and schedule constraints.
- Willing to travel to different sites (locally and into Africa)
Main duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Provide advanced design input and assist with the coordination of the Electrical Design team in the engineering work to meet client and project requirements
- Ensure all electrical designs meet project specifications, industry codes, statutory requirements and quality standards, while delivering cost effective, fit for purpose designs on projects.
- Coordinate technical interfaces with other engineering disciplines to ensure full integration and alignment across all project systems.
- Prepare comprehensive electrical engineering documentation such as scopes of work, bills of materials, equipment specifications, and technical datasheets.
- Develop and compile technical tender packages and provide electrical engineering input for the procurement of electrical equipment, switchgear, motors, etc.
- Deploy to project sites for as necessary to ensure successful project delivery.
- Prepare and present reports, as required by the project scope.
