About the position
Our Client, a well-known and respected Law firm, is looking for a hands-on Senior Debtors Clerk to take full ownership of the debtors function within a structured and fast-paced environment.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with strong collections experience, excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to engage with both internal stakeholders and clients.
Requirements
- Relevant finance or accounting qualification
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a debtors or accounts receivable role
- Experience within a legal environment is non-negotiable.
- Exposure to legal billing systems such as GhostPractice is advantageous
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
The Role:
Debtors Management
- Manage the full debtors function for the firm
- Generate, issue and follow up on invoices and proformas
- Ensure consistent follow up on outstanding payments
Collections and Client Engagement
- Drive collections and implement escalation processes for overdue accounts
- Liaise with clients, attorneys and internal teams regarding payments
- Resolve billing and account queries efficiently
Reconciliations and Reporting
- Perform weekly and monthly debtor reconciliations
- Prepare and submit debtor ageing reports
- Provide weekly feedback on collections and outstanding balances
Financial Systems and Administration
- Maintain accurate client account records on financial systems
- Ensure all debtor records are up to date and accurate
- Support month-end and year-end processes and audits
