Introduction
Job Title: Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer - PFG
Location: Springs, Gauteng
As a key player, you'll implement and monitor standards for control engineering and manufacturing IT systems, manage external support contracts, and ensure the availability of all systems through effective maintenance strategies. The role includes identifying and mitigating risks in control and IT systems, championing information and network security. Validate projects against high engineering standards to meet objectives. Bring your expertise in continuous control systems (PLC/DCS), preventative maintenance, industrial networks, and security. Experience in PLC-VSD network control, large-scale control systems, SQL Server databases, and SCADA systems is a must.
Main job purpose:
To manage and effectively execute projects and maintenance in areas of Industrial Control Systems Engineering and Manufacturing IT by providing a professional, comprehensive and cost-effective support to PFG Building Glass.
Duties & Responsibilities
- To ensure compliance and implementation of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations as applied to industrial control systems and instrumentation.
- Execute major capital and Extra Ordinary projects within these areas of responsibility.
- Responsible for cost saving initiatives through projects, management of support contracts and maintenance activities.
- Implement and monitor compliance to standards for control engineering and manufacturing IT systems.
- Management of support contracts for the control and manufacturing IT systems that require external support.
- Ensure availability of all control engineering and manufacturing IT systems, including the execution of effective maintenance strategies.
- Identification and mitigation of all risks relating to control systems and manufacturing IT systems, including information and network security of all computer-based systems.
- Ensure that projects and new technology is validated and updated against the required control system engineering standards in order to meet objectives.

Qualification(s):
- Grade 12
- National Diploma / B Tech (Electrical / Electronic)
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of control systems for continuous control (PLC/DCS)
- Knowledge of PLC and Control systems for high-speed manufacturing
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques
- Variable Speed Drives (VSD) and servo systems
- Industrial Control Networks
- Ethernet networks including Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching
- Industrial Network Security (Firewalls, Anti-virus and related)
- Microsoft Operating systems and active directory
- Industrial Instrumentation
- Installation of electrical equipment in hazardous areas

- 3 - 5 Years experience in general management
- Large scale control system experience
