About the position
Our client is seeking a Senior Contracts Specialist to join their team onsite at a mining operation in Rustenburg. In this role, you will independently manage complex mining and procurement contracts across their full lifecycle, engaging confidently with contractors, vendors, and key internal stakeholders to ensure commercial rigor, risk mitigation, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Full Lifecycle Contract Management: Manage and administer mining contracts from inception through execution, performance monitoring, and close-out.
- Contract Administration & Compliance: Draft, review, interpret, and manage contractual documentation, terms, and obligations.
- NEC & FIDIC Management: Administer NEC and/or FIDIC contracts, including issuing notices, processing variations/compensation events, evaluating claims, and managing contractual changes.
- Performance & Commercial Review: Monitor contractor and vendor deliverables, performance, and compliance. Review commercial submissions, pricing, payment claims, and supporting documentation.
- Risk & Governance: Identify, mitigate, and manage contractual, commercial, and procurement risks.
- Commercial Registers & Reporting: Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready contract registers, variation logs, claims trackers, and reporting systems.
- Vendor & B-BBEE Compliance: Manage and support vendor management processes alongside B-BBEE compliance requirements.
- Negotiation & Close-Out: Support contract negotiations, amendments, renewals, and final close-outs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Mining, Engineering, Projects, Procurement, Finance, and external vendor/contractor teams.
Minimum Requirements- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field (Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Law, Supply Chain, or Engineering).
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on Contract Management experience.
- Minimum 5 years of Procurement experience.
- Industry & Standards (Non-Negotiable):
- Practical Mining industry and project experience is strictly non-negotiable.
- Practical experience with NEC and/or FIDIC contract frameworks is strictly non-negotiable.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills required).
- Hands-on SAP system experience.
- Specialized Knowledge: Demonstrated experience with B-BBEE compliance and vendor management.

Additional Details- Contract Term: This position is offered on an annual renewable contract basis with the client.
