About the position
Are you a commercially minded, strategic project leader with a passion for innovation in construction and cost optimization?
We are looking for a dynamic Construction/ Project Manager to drive project execution and cost-efficiency across our expanding network of over 100 new builds and 300 remodels annually throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.
This high-impact role is responsible for aligning development projects with business objectives, optimizing supplier relationships, reducing CAPEX, and embedding sustainability into our construction and development practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Project & Cost Management - Lead multiple construction projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery against budget, scope, and quality standards while driving at least 10% cost or efficiency savings through smart building innovations.
- Supplier & Supply Chain Support - Collaborate with supply chain teams to manage external vendors, negotiate contracts, and support strategic procurement and planning.
- Franchisee Engagement - Act as a key advisor to franchisees, sharing best practices, minimizing remodel downtime, and promoting continuous improvement.
- Sustainability Innovation - Identify and implement technologies, materials, and systems that contribute to long-term sustainability goals and reduced carbon emissions.
- Cross-functional Collaboration - Work closely with internal teams including Finance, Design, Operations, and Engineering to align project goals and execution strategies.
What You'll Bring
- 5-10 years' experience in project and construction management, with proven cost management and negotiation skills.
- Experience in a multi-site retail or franchise environment is highly desirable.
- Deep understanding of contractor and supplier management, with a strong commercial mindset.
- Technical background in Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Construction, Engineering, or Architecture.
- Ability to drive innovation in building systems and sustainability practices.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture).
- Postgraduate qualification such as MBA or MSc in Property Studies is advantageous.
- Registration with professional bodies is a plus.
