My client based in Bellville is currently looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join their team on a contract basis.
IT / FINANCE
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Informatics, Actuarial Science, or Engineering
- Business Analysis certification (e.g. FTI or similar)
- Project Management qualification advantageous
- 10+ years' experience as a Business Analyst within Financial Services (preferably short-term insurance or reinsurance)
- Proven experience working with high-volume transactional software
- Strong SQL skills (ability to read and execute code)
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power Query, and PowerBI (data modelling, dashboards, reporting)
- Experience in data analysis, data visualization, and process mapping
- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
- Skilled in using Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)
- Familiar with UML, BPMN, and Enterprise Architect tools
- Exposure to digital transformation, cloud technologies, and automation tools
- Working knowledge of Large Language Models (e.g., CoPilot) is advantageous
Responsibilities
- Engage with business stakeholders to identify challenges and opportunities
- Translate business needs into functional and technical requirements
- Develop business cases, models, and process documentation (UML, BPMN)
- Analyze data, processes, and system integrations to recommend improvements
- Collaborate with technical teams (development, QA, architecture, data) to ensure solutions meet business goals
- Participate in project lifecycle activities including QA, UAT, demos, and training
- Support incident investigations and system enhancements
- Contribute to system modernization initiatives (including cloud migration and automation)
- Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and project documentation using PowerBI and other tools
- Ensure alignment with internal standards, compliance, and governance processes
