About the position
Job description:
The primary objective of this role is to lead complex business analysis activities across strategic and operational initiatives within Western. The Senior Business Analyst will act as a key liaison between business stakeholders, project teams, and technical resources to understand business needs, define clear requirements, analyse processes, and support the delivery of effective technology and business solutions. The role requires strong stakeholder management, analytical thinking, documentation discipline, and the ability to guide solution design from concept through to implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of advanced security controls across on-prem, cloud, and SaaS environments (Azure, Microsoft 365).
- Lead requirements elicitation sessions, workshops, interviews, and analysis activities with business stakeholders across multiple functional areas.
- Document business requirements, functional specifications, user stories, process flows, business rules, data requirements, and acceptance criteria to a high standard.
- Analyse existing business processes, systems, data flows, and pain points to identify improvement opportunities and recommend practical business solutions.
- Translate business needs into clear requirements for technical teams and support solution design to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Work closely with project managers, developers, testers, product owners, vendors, and business representatives to ensure requirements are understood, prioritised, delivered, and validated.
- Support project planning by defining scope, assumptions, dependencies, risks, impacts, and business analysis deliverables.
- Facilitate requirements prioritisation, decision-making, and conflict resolution where stakeholder needs or project priorities differ.
- Support testing activities by reviewing test scenarios, clarifying requirements, assisting with defect resolution, and confirming that delivered solutions meet business expectations.
- Contribute to change management, implementation readiness, training material, and business adoption activities where required.
Minimum Requirements
- BCom / BSc degree, Diploma in Business Analysis, Information Systems, or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 7 years’ Business Analysis experience, preferably across complex business and technology projects.
- Proven experience in requirements elicitation, process analysis, stakeholder management, solution design support, and documentation of business and functional requirements.
- Experience working with project delivery methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models.
- Strong understanding of systems analysis, process modelling, data flows, user stories, use cases, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience working with technical teams, integration requirements, APIs, vendor solutions, and digital platforms will be advantageous.
- Financial services or short-term insurance industry experience will be advantageous.
- Business Analysis certification such as CBAP, CCBA, or an equivalent qualification will be advantageous
