Job Title: Senior Bookkeeper
Location: Remote (Cape Town-based)

Hire Resolve's Client are seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join their dynamic team, a leading marketing company. The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and supporting the finance team. This role offers remote work flexibility, with occasional meetings held in Cape Town.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Month-End & Year-End Closures: Ensure that monthly and annual financial closings are completed promptly and accurately.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements and credit card accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, for internal review.
- VAT & Tax Compliance: Oversee VAT submissions and ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations.
- Payroll Support: Assist with payroll processing and maintain accurate records of employee benefits and deductions.
- Accounts Management: Manage client and vendor accounts, process invoices, and ensure payments are made promptly.
- Internal Controls: Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls to safeguard the integrity of financial data.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the finance manager, marketing teams, and other departments to support business operations and financial planning.
- Reporting & Analysis: Prepare reports on financial trends and performance, offering valuable insights to inform decision-making.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role, ideally within the marketing or creative industry.
- Education: Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of Taxation: Strong understanding of VAT, tax regulations, and other financial compliance requirements.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams and clients.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Remote Work Experience: Comfortable with remote work and capable of managing time and priorities effectively in a virtual setting.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time remote position with the flexibility to work from home.
- Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Cape Town time).
- Occasional in-person meetings in Cape Town or virtual meetings as required.
