About the position

Our Client, a well-known and respected Law firm, is looking for a hands-on Senior Bookkeeper / Senior Accountant / Financial Manager to lead and manage the full finance function.
 
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured environment, enjoys ownership, and can confidently partner with senior stakeholders to drive financial performance.
Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Financial Manager or Senior Bookkeeper within a Law Firm
  • Strong understanding of trust accounts and legal financial compliance
  • Experience in legal environment non-negotiable
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills

The Role:
Strategic Financial Management

  • Develop and implement financial strategy aligned to business objectives
  • Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts and financial models
  • Provide financial insights and cost-saving recommendations
  • Monitor revenue, profitability and cash flow

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Deliver management reports and present to stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations
  • Liaise with auditors and provide required reporting 

Cash Flow and Banking

  • Manage cash flow to ensure operational liquidity
  • Maintain banking relationships and oversee payments processing

Risk and Compliance

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain strong internal controls
  • Act as FICA compliance officer
  • Support audit processes and implement financial governance practices

Trust Account Management

  • Oversee trust accounts in line with legal compliance requirements
  • Perform reconciliations and manage trust transfers and investments 

Accounts Payable and Receivable

  • Oversee creditors and debtors functions
  • Ensure timely invoicing, collections and supplier payments
  • Manage and support finance team members

Reconciliations and Ledger Management

  • Review and process bank and trust reconciliations
  • Maintain general ledger and prepare journal entries

Payroll and Tax

  • Process payroll and statutory payments
  • Support VAT submissions and tax compliance

Financial Systems and Recordkeeping

  • Maintain financial systems and ensure data integrity
  • Manage asset register and financial documentation
