SENIOR BOOKKEEPER

About the position

OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our health products distribution company. This is a BBEEE appointment. The successful candidate will manage the full accounting function to trial balance, work from a pleasant office environment in the southern suburbs of Cape Town and can negotiate flexible structured hours, based on capacity and operational requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for bookkeeping to trial balance for multiple entities, including cashbook processing, full-function debtors and creditors control, and inventory management.
• Process transactions using full accrual-based accounting principles and maintain robust reconciliation skills for debtors, creditors, inventory, and other balance sheet control accounts.
• Utilise Sage Business Online for all accounting functions and be proficient in using the MS Office suite, particularly MS Excel.
• Manage inventory import processes, including accurate accounting for imported inventory and ensuring compliance with import regulations.
• Apply a strong understanding of the IFRS for SMEs accounting standard to ensure compliant financial reporting.
• Ensure adherence to BBBEE requirements, monitor performance, and recommend corrective measures where necessary.
• Assist external auditors in preparing provisional and income tax calculations for companies and trusts.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Education
  Either a 3-year advanced diploma in accounting, or similar, from a recognised institution, with transcript available.
• Experience
  Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role in the workforce.
• Bookkeeping Expertise
  Proven track record of managing full bookkeeping to trial balance for multiple entities.
• VAT Proficiency
  Strong knowledge of the VAT Act and experience with its application to SMEs.
• Stock/Inventory Experience
  Demonstrated experience with stock and inventory management.
• Technical Skills
  Proficiency in Sage Business Online and advanced MS Excel skills.
