Senior Bookkeeper

About the position

Our client, a leader in their field, is looking for a Senior Bookkeeper to join their team.

Responsibilities include:

• Capturing monthly journals

• Following up on processing of entries on projects until closure

• Focussing on cost control for all projects executed and fixed cost determination
• Collecting data to determine costs of business activity of different business units and functions
• Recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures
• Communicating cash flow requirements
• Monthly VAT return and reconciliation
• Monthly reconciliation, maintenance, and documentation for all Balance Sheet General Ledger accounts
• Reviewing and submitting monthly reporting including monthly variance reporting
• Assisting with the upkeep of a healthy debtors and creditors book
• Following up on open purchase orders to ensure costs are accounted in the correct period
• Maintaining Fixed Asset Registers
• Assisting with annual budgets
• Assisting with stock taking
• Assisting with various audits
• Ad hoc requests

Requirements:

• Matric

• Relevant diploma or degree in accounting

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a related role
• Accounting background experience
• Exposure to broad accounting from inputting date to trial balance
• Experience preferable over qualification
• Exposure to high volumes of data and departments
• Ability to work independently as part of a team, with minimum supervision
• High level of time management skills required
• Well organised and a high attention to detail
• Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) is essential
