About the position

Red Ember is seeking to hire a Senior Bookkeeper/Accountant based at the client in Maitland.

Debtors Management:
• Oversee the debtor’s clerk – ensuring KPIs are met.
• Approval of Credit Notes
• Approval of Credit Limit increases
• Vetting and approval of credit facilities for new customers
• Weekly meeting with Debtors Clerk to run through hit list customers.
• Monthly Reporting to Exco regarding delinquent accounts and collection ratios

Creditors Management:
• Oversee the creditors clerk – ensuring KPIs are met.
• Checking and approval of monthly, weekly, and daily payment packs
• Maintaining supplier details on Sage 200 and the bank
• Loading of payments on FNB
• Monthly reporting to Exco regarding large or abnormal spending on the supplier's accounts
• Ensuring the open PO report remains up-to-date and current.

Import Management:
• Approval of Purchase orders – Ensuring cash flow is available and stock is needed.
• Load imports onto the drive ensuring costs are accurate.
• Apply for APNs when loading payments, ensuring that statutory requirements are met.
• Loading advance and balance payments onto FNB
• Capture container GRV ensuring that the costings are accurate and the GRV includes all additional costs.
• Send APN documents to the bank when requested.
Day to Day Finance Management:
• Cash flow management, ensuring funds are received to pay suppliers and expenses.
• Cash book capturing.
• Bank reconciliations.
• Customer Discount calculations
• Bank Reconciliations
• General Journals
• Constantly look for new ways to drive expenditure down.
• Monthly Management report preparation including Excel download for commentary.
• Drive strategic decision-making regarding certain aspects of the business.
• Implement necessary system changes to ensure that reporting requirements are met.
• Prepare and submit EE reports.
• Prepare and submit BEE reports.
• Compile and submit all SDL plans and meeting minutes.



RequirementsMin. Requirements:
• Grade 12
• Degree or Diploma in Finance
• 5+ years in a similar role

• Meticulous with strong attention to detail
• Strong numerical skills
• Good Interpersonal Skills
• High level of confidentiality and professionalism
• Strong communication skills – Verbal and Written
• Ability to cope with the pressure and deadlines of a fast-moving environment.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
