About the position

This is a remote position.

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior AWS Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will lead cloud architecture initiatives, optimise performance, drive security compliance, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating across DevOps, development, and security teams.


Responsibilities

  • Design and implement AWS-based infrastructure solutions following best practices.


  • Automate provisioning and management of infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).


  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise environments for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.


  • Implement and enforce security standards, IAM policies, encryption, and auditing.


  • Support CI/CD pipelines and application deployments in collaboration with cross-functional teams.


  • Lead incident response, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative measures.


  • Stay up to date with AWS innovations and recommend new technologies and improvements.


  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning.


Qualifications
  • Matric and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.


  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering, with strong expertise in AWS.


  • Deep knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch.


  • Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, or similar).


  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).


  • Familiarity with containers and orchestration (Docker, ECS, EKS).


  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and cloud architecture principles.


  • AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect Professional) are advantageous.


  • Experience in hybrid cloud or multi-cloud environments is a plus.


  • Knowledge of DevOps tools and practices (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, etc.).


  • Exposure to monitoring and logging tools (Datadog, Prometheus, ELK).
