Key Responsibilities

  • Finance

    • Financial Management
      • Monitoring and management of bank statements and cash flows.
      • Oversee processing of accounting of financial transactions, including purchases, receipts, and payments ensuring alignment with source documents.
    • Bookkeeping
      • Maintain and update financial records by recording financial transactions, including purchases, receipts, and payments.
      • Maintenance of various cashbooks.
    • Accounts Payable and Receivable
      • Create and process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and prepare monthly payments.
      • Issue and track customer invoices, follow up on outstanding payments, and manage the collection process.
      • Reconcile supplier statements.
      • Liaison with debtors and creditors.
      • Prepare monthly payment schedules.
    • Intercompany Transactions
      • Create and issue monthly intercompany invoices.
      • Reconciliation of intercompany loans and transactions.
    • Bank Reconciliation
      • Reconcile bank statements with internal accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
    • General Ledger
      • Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries and ensuring proper coding of transactions.
    • Tax
      • Lead tax-related matters, such as gathering financial data for tax returns and tax compliance.
      • Prepare VAT calculations and submissions.
      • Draft provisional tax calculations.
    • Audit
      • Prepare and manage audits and external reviews.
    • Financial Software and Systems
      • Accurately enter financial data into accounting systems and spreadsheets.
      • Utilize accounting software and financial systems to manage accounting tasks and maintain financial records efficiently.
    • Budgets
      • Prepare budgets.
      • Manage and track budgets vs actual monthly expenditure.
      • Provide monthly updates on the budgets vs actual spend.
    • Compliance
      • Adhere to accounting principles, financial regulations, and company policies to ensure accurate and compliant financial records.
      • Ensuring completion of annual returns and CIPC compliance.
    • Administrative Tasks:
    Perform general administrative duties, such as filing financial documents and maintaining organised records.

  • Utilise financial systems and accounting software (e.g. SAGE X3) to streamline and manage financial processes.

  • Prepare management reports and assist with financial reviews for the Group Financial Manager and Directors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance (or equivalent).

  • Minimum of 5 years’ solid accounting experience, ideally at a senior level.

  • Proficiency in accounting systems (experience with SAGE X3 will be an advantage).

  • Strong knowledge of tax regulations, compliance, and financial reporting.

  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
