Senior Accountant | Manufacturing Sector
Location: Industria, Johannesburg
Experience: 7+ Years (Minimum 3 in a Senior Role)
System / Tech: Pastel Evolution & Advanced Excel
Our client, a growing manufacturing company, is looking to employ an accountant with a professional qualification (CIMA, ACCA, or CGMA).
Job Purpose:
- Oversee and manage accounting operations within the company.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance
- Lead the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Manage Systems and provide support and solutions on reporting
- Analyze financial performance and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Bookkeeping and Financial Reporting: Maintain and oversee bookkeeping to Balance Sheet.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management accounts.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance
- Cost and Inventory Management: Develop and implement effective inventory management controls and procedures.
- Conduct regular cost analysis and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning.
- Cash Management: Manage cash flow and develop cash forecasts.
- Ensure efficient use of financial resources and maintain liquidity.
- Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
- Compliance and Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with VAT, tax, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports and filings.
- Team Leadership and Collaboration: Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial alignment with operational goals.
- Assist the Financial Director with special projects and reports as needed.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- A professional qualification (e.g., CGMA, ACCA, CIMA) is an advantage.
- Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior accounting role.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting software (Pastel Evolution is an advantage).
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial modelling.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory management.
