About the position

Postion Summary:
SAEON Egagasini Node, based in Cape Town, Western Cape, requires the services of a suitably qualified individual to be responsible for the day-to-day operational and logistical management of the Foundational Biodiversity Information Programme Large Grant project SeaMap.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily management of SeaMap operations, logistics and liaising with PI and co-investigators/collaborators to meet project deliverables
  • Workshop and team meeting planning and implementation, draft progress reports (monthly, quarterly and annual), promotional content management and science engagement
  • Coordinate Supply Chain Management activities and research agreements for SeaMap requirements to meet the project objectives, budget and compliance
  • Validate and/or collate species occurrence records, metadata, relevant species information or images and genetic metadata as per prescribed templates

Minimum Qualification:
  • Bachelors Degree / Advanced Diploma / NQF 7

Minimum Experience:
  • 0-2 years
  • BSc degree in related marine biodiversity researchExperience in budgeting, logistical coordination, data standards and stakeholder engagement, preferably in the environmental field (provide examples)

Experience:
  • Working within the natural environment community, preference to marine environmental stakeholders

Knowledge:
  • Coordinating diverse teamsExposure to Darwin Core metadata and data standardsSynthesize complex material to support drafting of progress reports, agreements, permit applications and public relations material
