About the position
Role Overview:
The company is searching for a fully-fledged Business Development Manager (BDM) with a proven track record in generating leads, closing deals, and managing client relationships however they will also consider Sales Development Representative (SDR) who can be trained and developed over time into a full BDM role.
You will be at the forefront of expanding our market presence, driving new revenue, and forging strategic partnerships. You will identify, evaluate, and pursue opportunities that align with our core offerings, ensuring the company continues to grow and expand into new markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to attract and retain high-value clients and partners.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to inform strategic decision-making and identify untapped opportunities.
Lead Generation & Client Acquisition
- Identify, qualify, and engage prospective clients across diverse industry segments.
- Articulate the company's value proposition, aligning solutions with potential clients' operational needs.
- Conduct discovery calls, product demonstrations, and presentations, negotiating deals through to successful closure.
- CRM & Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM software (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot), ensuring real-time pipeline visibility, accurate forecasting, and prompt follow-ups.
Partnership Development
- Establish and nurture strategic alliances with business partners who can recommend the company to their clients.
- Evaluate partnership opportunities to ensure mutual benefit and alignment with the company's long-term objectives.
- Collaboration with Marketing: Work with the marketing team to develop targeted campaigns and collateral that support lead generation, brand awareness, and product launches.
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients and business partners.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams (sales, account management, support) to ensure successful onboarding and integration for new clients.
- Act as a primary point of contact for high-level discussions around contract renewals, expansions, and escalations.
Travel & Event Participation
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to represent the company, build relationships, and explore new opportunities.
Market & Trend Analysis
- Stay current with market trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activities within the eCommerce and data integration sectors.
- Provide regular updates on market feedback, potential product enhancements, and areas for innovation.
Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Set and monitor performance targets (e.g. revenue growth, lead conversion rates), reporting progress to senior management.
- Use data-driven insights to refine strategies, address challenges, and optimise the sales pipeline.
Proposal & Contract Management
- Prepare proposals and respond to RFPs, coordinating contract negotiations in partnership with legal and finance teams.
Methodologies & Continuous Improvement
- Regularly analyse the business development process, sharing best practices and training with the broader team to drive improvements.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven Background in BDM or SDR: Demonstrable track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets within eCommerce, SaaS, or technology-focused environments.
- Strategic Thinking: Adept at researching markets and crafting strategies to tap into new client segments and partnership opportunities.
- Sales Expertise: Skilled in prospecting, negotiation, and deal-closing, with excellent written and verbal communication and presentation abilities.
- Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with eCommerce platforms, accounting software, and/or data integration tools is highly advantageous.
- Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels, from C-suite to technical teams.
- Analytical Mindset: Comfortable interpreting market data and KPI reports to guide business decisions and prioritise efforts.
- Autonomy & Collaboration: Ability to work independently on leads and partnerships while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Continuous Learning & Adaptability: Committed to developing new skills and comfortable navigating emerging systems and technologies.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience with or knowledge of ERP systems, accounting software integrations, and API-based solutions.
- Established network in eCommerce, retail, or technology sectors.

***Salary - R25,000.00 - R35,000.00. + Commission (Negotiable, based on skills, experience and in relation to current package)
