My client based in Cape Town is currently looking for a Scrum Master to join their team on a contract basis.

Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Management, Project Management, or a related field.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), SAFe Scrum Master or equivalent Agile certification preferred.
- Proven experience working as a Scrum Master within Agile software development environments.
- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies, Scrum principles, Lean-Agile practices, and iterative development.
- Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinement sessions.
- Experience working with cross-functional, self-organising Agile teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication experience with Product Owners, Project Managers, Programme Managers, and business stakeholders.
- Experience in identifying, managing, and removing impediments impacting team delivery.
- Good understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps practices.
- Proficiency in Agile tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
- Insurance industry experience will be advantageous.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Coach, mentor, and support Agile teams in Scrum principles, values, and best practices.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, Scrum-of-Scrums, and Backlog Grooming sessions.
- Act as a servant leader to the Agile team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Protect the team from uncontrolled work requests, scope creep, and shifting priorities.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Programme Managers to ensure alignment with broader programme delivery frameworks and timelines.
- Support Product Owners with backlog management, prioritisation, and refinement activities.
- Monitor team velocity, sprint progress, quality, and delivery predictability.
- Identify, manage, and remove delivery impediments or escalate where necessary.
- Promote a culture of quality, efficiency, technical excellence, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between the Agile team and stakeholders.
- Assist teams in establishing Definition of Done (DoD) standards for User Stories, Sprints, and Releases.
- Support healthy team dynamics and assist in resolving interpersonal conflicts or delivery challenges.
- Encourage Agile maturity and adoption across teams and stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment to governance, reporting, and delivery standards within the Project Delivery Centre (PDC).
