Job Title: Intermediate Scrum Master
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Intermediate Scrum Master to join our dynamic IT [Email Address Removed] Intermediate Scrum Master will act as a servant leader to the Scrum Team and Organization, helping them to adopt and [Email Address Removed]onsibilities include removing impediments to Scrum Team delivery, ensuring adherence to Scrum principles, values, roles, rules, and practices, and supporting Product Owners and Development Team members in their roles. The successful candidate will have technical knowledge, project management skills, and a customer-centric mindset to drive the development of innovative and valuable IT solutions. The ideal candidate possesses in-depth knowledge and practical experience in Scrum and Kanban methodologies, familiarity with IT frameworks (ITIL, SDLC, Agile), and excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper implementation of Scrum and Kanban agile methodology within supported software engineering teams.
- Organize and facilitate daily stand-up meetings, sprint review and retrospective meetings, sprint and release planning meetings, demos, and other Scrum-related tasks.
- Ensure software engineering team members are familiar with software engineering processes and standards.
- Constantly evaluate team performance and commitment to agile software development.
- Identify agile training needs within supported teams and ensure appropriate training is provided.
- Identify and address issues affecting team morale and productivity.
- Empower and create a self-organizing team.
- Remove impediments and prevent distractions obstructing project team goals.
- Support team building and development by utilizing individual abilities and skills.
- Foster a feedback culture and ensure knowledge sharing within the team.
- Help the team learn from past experiences.
- Proactively enforce team standards, software development processes, and best practices.
- Identify and drive initiatives to enhance agile methodology effectiveness within and outside software engineering teams.
- Recommend improvements to team standards, processes, practices, and tools.
- Liaise with stakeholders to identify and address process improvement opportunities.
- Assist with appropriate commitments through story selection and task definition.
- Assist with backlog maintenance and prioritization/resolution of defects/bugs.
- Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress.
- Escalate issues and assist the team in addressing impediments.
- Ensure team commitments are understood and met on time.
- Provide stakeholder communication and status feedback updates.
- Serve as a liaison between technical and non-technical departments.
- Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution.
Requirements:
- Minimum Certified Scrum Master, Degree/Diploma – NQF level 7
- Advantageous: Change Management, Process Management, Certified Product Owner, Certified
- Scrum Professional, Advanced Scrum Master, Project Management 2-4 years’ experience managing team(s) and the team process as a certified SM 2-4 years’ experience in IT
- Participation in SUGSA events and providing feedback to the organization.
- Attendance at Scrum Gatherings when possible.
- Involvement in the Company Agile Community (MMI Agile).
- Attendance at Scrum Coaching sessions.
- Coach product owners where required.
- Contribute to changes in SDLC.
- Contribute to presentations and training in Agile at various levels.
