About the position
A leading Plastic Packaging manufacturing company requires the above to be responsible for the effective control, handling, recording, processing, and preparation of all production scrap for reprocessing and collection.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- A Grade 12 is essential for this role.
- A Valid forklift driver’s licence is mandatory for this role.
- Previous experience having worked in a scrap or materials handling role within the plastics, metals, or manufacturing industries is essential.
- Previous experience and knowledge of recycling processes and scrap value optimisation is preferred.
- Practical experience in operating and understanding granulation equipment is preferred.
- Basic knowledge or courses completed in stock control principles is preferred.
- Must have a strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Responsible for the effective control, handling, recording, processing, and preparation of all production scrap for reprocessing and collection.
- Recording all production scrap generated on a daily basis and accurately capturing scrap quantities per production line, product, grade, and colour.
- Maintaining up-to-date and accurate daily scrap reports and submitting reports to management as required as well as ensuring complete traceability of all scrap materials.
- Transferring all production scrap to the designated scrap area promptly and sorting and segregating scrap correctly according to grade, product type, and colour.
- Preventing contamination or mixing of different materials and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised scrap storage area at all times.
- Monitoring accumulated scrap volumes and initiating granulation once volumes reach approximately one ton, and ensuring granulated material meets required quality standards.
- Conducting scrap stock counts as required (weekly, monthly, or as instructed) and reconciling physical stock with recorded balances.
- Investigating and reporting any variances, losses, or contamination immediately and maintaining accurate and updated scrap inventory records.
