About the position

Postion Summary:
SARAO has an exciting opportunity for a Science Educator to join our Carnarvon based team on a three (3) year contract. The incumbent will be responsible for teaching Natural (Grade 8 - 9) and Physical Science ( Grade 10 - 12) learners and implementation of STEM activities to relevant learners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Planning preparing and teaching Natural (grade 8 – 9) and Physical science (grade 10 – 12) lessons to learners
• Working with other educators to structure targeted academic interventions and plans for learners
• Managing the science laboratory at the school and ensuring it adequately resourced at all times
• Ensuring learner participation in extracurricular STEM activities, including Science Expos, Olympiads and Competitions
• Organising the annual Carnarvon High School STEM careers expo

Minimum Qualification:

• Bachelors Degree / Advanced Diploma / NQF 7

Minimum Experience:

• 2-3 years

• Bachelor Degree in Education with specialization in Physical Science or an equivalent qualification2 – 3 years’ proven experience teaching Natural and Physical Science at high school level

Experience:

• Supervising learners with science related projectsLearner participation in relevant Olympiads and competitionsExcellent working experience in classroom teaching and management

Knowledge:

• STEM Careers pathWorking knowledge of CAPS Curriculum, and teaching CAPS Natural and Physical Sciences curriculum
• Comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of Physical and Natural Sciences
• A thorough understanding of best practices in teaching
