About the position
Part of a team of 14 that will do Operation support on a rotational basis.
Based on a strong technical ABAP background, play a technical solution architect role for all change requests.
Mediate between developers and functional team members and will engage directly with product owner(s) and external partner feature team(s) for the respective projects / maintenance / operations requirements.
Technical oversight of developments on SAP systems that run global business processes spanning the material management, material supply in a automotive setup.
Technical tasks will include, but not limited to:
Reviewing proposed solutions and code changes, based on learned knowledge of existing system design and client’s Global Development Guidelines.
Making sure the development solution will align with the current technical functions of the system and will fit the overall architecture.
Reviewing and approving the technical specifications.
Reviewing development, checking code quality against client’s standards.
Reconfirming during the code review that the completed development meets the original requirement, as explained by the functional expert.
Development will also be required, where the above tasks will be conducted by peers.
The following will also be expected:
Reviewing & approving the functional specifications, make sure that it is complete, understandable and logically consistent from a development point of view.
Attending of all team meetings, including Stand-ups, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospectives, Sprint Planning meetings etc.
Understanding the release management process and keeping track of the release schedule.
Endeavour to understand the SAP system landscape and be abreast of what changes are planned and how they will affect topics planned over a release.
Go-live preparation and post Go-live support.
Receiving, troubleshooting, resolving, and closing Operational and Maintenance tickets within defined SLA’s (Service Level Agreements).
Interact with consultants of other modules.
Taking a proactive approach in the software development process.
Go-Live preparation and post Go-Live Support.
Change Management – Manage changes and present to relevant CAB.
Interaction with clients through meetings, calls and emails.
Receiving, troubleshooting, resolving, and closing operational and maintenance tickets within SLAs.
Development debugging.
Update and maintain documentation as an existing system’s functionality is changed.
Taking a proactive approach in the software development / design process.
Execution according to the Agile Methodology and attending of all team meetings, including Stand ups, Sprint.
Review, Sprint retrospectives, Sprint Planning meetings etc.
Daily use of the Agile Tool Chain, as per the updates required by the respective feature team(s).
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications/Experience:
5-8+ years of DevOps (Operations, configuration/development) experience in user IT applications, SAP MM/PP (advantageous).
Supervision: Completely independent worker that will only escalate tasks that are complex and outside of their span of control. May need to lead individual members of a team of Entry and Advanced level experts.
Problem solving: Improve a product or a system that already exists by making conceptual changes and enhancements. Can manage the solution for complex problems that may require simple solutions but affect multiple systems.
Communication: Influence (Effect change without direct exercise of command where persuasion is required and reaching buy-in might be difficult).
Delivery: Specify new products, processes, standards based on organization strategy or set short- to mid-term perational plans. The requests are often unclear and will need substantial investigation to ensure that the specifics are well understood by all parties. Employee may be expected to provide guidance to lower-level employees.
Essential Skills Requirements:
Advanced ABAP Development.
Deep expertise in ABAP Objects, Reports, BAPIs, BADIs, Enhancements, and User Exits.
Performance tuning and optimization of ABAP programs.
IDoc & ALE Integration
Expert-level knowledge of IDoc configuration, processing, and troubleshooting.
Experience with ALE distribution models and cross-system data replication.
Material Management (MM).
In-depth understanding of Material Master Data structure, views, and dependencies.
Knowledge of MM integration with other modules (SD, PP, WM).
Data Migration & Governance.
Experience with LSMW, BDC, and custom migration tools.
Strong understanding of data quality, governance, and validation.
SAP Interfaces
Expertise in RFC, BAPI, Web Services, and integration with external systems.
OData Services.
Design and implement OData services for SAP Fiori and external consumption.
Knowledge of Gateway framework, annotations, and performance optimization.
SAP S/4HANA
ABAP on HANA, CDS Views, AMDP, and OData integration.
Debugging & Problem Solving.
Ability to analyze complex issues across multiple SAP systems.
