About the position

ENVIRONMENT:

Belonging to the biotechnology sector, our client was founded in 1987. Since its inception, this dynamic organization has been dedicated to manufacturing implant devices that meet stringent standards of quality and biocompatibility. They are currently seeking a proactive sales representative whose main objective is to exceed the annual sales target. The role involves promoting and selling the complete product range within the sales division in the Gauteng region. The emphasis is on conducting these activities professionally, targeting healthcare professionals and specific hospitals. The overarching goal is to protect and expand market share by cultivating ethical relationships and advocating for associated products. A bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field is a prerequisite for this position.

DUTIES:

Promoting Current and New products:

  • Actively seek to identify business opportunities to sell all products.
  • Meet and exceed annually contracted budgets.
  • Demonstrate a consistent work methodology that focuses on achieving targets.
  • Demonstrate a consistent record of growing new business in the territory.
  • Maintain and grow existing accounts and develop new “targets”.
  • To work independently and responsibly in the field.
  • To be goal driven and a team player.

Management by Objectives:

  • Demonstrate sound planning that will result in achieving sales and marketing objectives.
  • Take responsibility for follow–through of objectives.
  • Demonstrate consistent preparedness to take personal accountability for outputs and performance.
  • Effectively manage personal workload.
  • Provide NSM with regular feedback on business objectives.
  • Provide mentorship and assistance to junior sales colleagues.
  • To demonstrate leadership capability.

Reporting:

  • Provide reports on progress on a weekly basis.
  • Prepare planning schedules weekly.
  • Timeously prepare and submit forecasts monthly.
  • Attend all business meetings.

Complete all required administrative tasks:

  • Completed punctually and accurately within given deadlines – e.g. planners, reports, leave forms, expense claims etc.
  • Complete, submit and store accurate business information at all times.
  • Manage consignment stock – take ownership of stock signed out.
  • Follow correct procedures to facilitate products gaining entry into hospitals & institutions.
  • Complete review and planning reports on a weekly basis.
  • Assist with completion of tenders when required.
  • Work co-operatively with admin office support and staff.

Building and Managing business relationships:

  • Building relationships and provide an excellent before and after sales service as detailed below:
  • Maintain a scrub rate of 5 scrubs per week, as well as 1 product call per week where a product is discussed and a full demonstration is conducted, this may be in a tea room or casual environment - this constitutes a detailed call.
  • Visit all theatre management, cssd, scrub nurses and procurement every week to discuss new products, consignment stock, problem solving and value adding suggestions and outstanding orders -this constitutes a Follow up call.
  • Have two monthly set appointments with doctors for new products and problem-solving discussions - this constitutes a business development call.
  • Set 2 monthly appointments for new product and problem-solving discussions with doctors - this constitutes a service call.
  • Have a total Call rate of min 8 calls per week
  • Have one in - service training per month with clinical staff for the duration of 30 minutes to 1 hour. 
  • Representatives to always conduct themselves in a professional manner.

REQUIREMENTS:

Financial/Job Scope:

  • Achievement and exceeding of sales budget.
  • Implementation of sales plan. 
  • Growing existing business. 
  • Managing customer relations at all levels in the designated territory. 
  • Effectively managing expense budget allocations as well as all consignment accounts is necessary.

Organization Impact / influence

  • The incumbent will report to the designated National Sales Manager who will communicate the sales plan and budget requirements. The NSM will also provide the necessary guidance with regards to the implementation of the sales plan to achieve budget. 
  • The incumbent is required to deal with all levels of customers in the buying chain to successfully implement the agreed sales plan.
  • To assist NSM with any additional duties and responsibilities that are required

  • Act and dress professionally always when representing the organization.
  • Wear proper identity tags at all business events.

Judgment and decision-making

  • Make suggestions and implement decisive action to add value to all parties involved from the company back office through to all clients.

Analysis/Action

  • Problem solving will occur mainly at an operational level and will involve analysing the territory monthly:
    • Identify positive and negative growth patterns within accounts.
    • Closely analyse sales figures by Hospital by product on a weekly basis to identify losses and gains in business.
    • Recommend recovery or attack plans according to sales data.
    • Draft accurate sales plans to achieve budgets and increase sales growth.
    • Analyse "month ahead" targets and goals.


Travel Requirements

  • Extensive travel within territory and beyond when necessary and travel  away from home may be required.
