About the position
Role Overview
We are seeking a driven, professional, and results-oriented Sales Representative to join a well-established industrial and general hardware retail environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving revenue growth through new business development, account management, and strong customer relationship building within the trade and retail hardware sector.
This role requires a proactive sales professional with solid industry knowledge, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales Growth
- Actively identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the industrial, construction, and hardware markets
- Build and grow a sustainable pipeline of trade and retail customers
- Promote a full range of hardware, timber, paint, tools, and related industrial products
Account Management
- Maintain and grow relationships with existing clients and trade accounts
- Provide consistent follow-up, after-sales service, and problem resolution
- Ensure customer retention through strong service delivery and reliability
Product & Technical Sales Support
- Demonstrate strong understanding of general hardware and industrial product ranges
- Advise customers on suitable product solutions based on application and requirements
- Stay informed on product availability, specifications, and industry trends
Sales Administration
- Prepare quotations, process orders, and manage customer requests efficiently
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity, customer interactions, and pipeline progress
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure timely fulfilment of orders
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with internal sales, warehouse, and operational teams
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented store environment
- Support overall branch sales targets and performance objectives
Minimum Requirements
- Proven sales experience within hardware, industrial supply, building materials, or related retail sectors
- Strong knowledge of hardware, timber, tools, paint, or construction-related products
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (well-spoken and professional)
- Demonstrated ability to generate new business and manage customer accounts effectively
- Strong negotiation and closing skills
- Ability to work in a team-based, customer-focused environment
- Computer literacy (basic sales systems, quotations, and order processing)
