About the position

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development

  • Promote and sell tool and plant hire solutions to new and existing customers within construction, engineering, and related industries.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities through cold calling, site visits, networking, and industry events.
  • Prepare and present quotations, negotiate terms, and close rental agreements in line with company objectives.
  • Achieve agreed sales targets and contribute to overall revenue growth.

Technical Sales Support

  • Advise customers on the most suitable tools, machinery, and equipment based on project requirements.
  • Provide technical product information, demonstrations, and usage guidance to customers.
  • Ensure customers understand correct operation, safety standards, and basic maintenance of hired equipment.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to encourage repeat business and long-term partnerships.
  • Act as a key point of contact for customer enquiries, ensuring timely and professional responses.
  • Resolve customer issues or escalate where necessary to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Reporting & Administration

  • Maintain accurate customer records, sales activities, and pipeline information on the CRM system.
  • Provide regular sales updates and activity reports to management.
  • Track customer feedback and market insights to support continuous improvement.

Market & Competitor Awareness

  • Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor offerings within the tool and plant hire sector.
  • Provide feedback to management on pricing, product demand, and potential opportunities for growth.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Promote and adhere to company and industry health and safety standards.
  • Ensure customers are educated on safe handling and usage of hired equipment.
  • Comply with all safety requirements when visiting customer sites.

Key Skills and Qualifications
Experience

  • Previous experience in sales within the tool and plant hire, construction, engineering, or related industries is highly advantageous.
  • Exposure to B2B sales environments and customer-facing roles.
  • Technical knowledge of tools, plant, and machinery or the ability to quickly learn product ranges.

Skills

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify customer needs and provide practical, value-driven solutions.
  • Confident in building relationships and managing multiple accounts.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Good planning, organizational, and time-management skills.

Qualifications

  • A qualification in sales, business, engineering, or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
  • Health & safety training related to tools and plant hire (e.g., IOSH or similar) is beneficial.

***Salary - R25,000.00 + Fuel + Working tools (Negotiable, based on skills, experience and in relation to current package)
