About the position

Main Purpose

To ensure customer acquisition & relationship management - to achieve set business targets through the establishment and customer relationship management of the trade channel; to ensure growth in business volume, value and brand presence / visibility in all areas and business sectors.

 

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PLAN



  • Extracts and formulates business development & sales plan from the Business Development Manager’s plan.
  • Formulates the trade channel development plan per trade channel partner.
  • Identifies internal gaps and constraints in achieving the plan objectives and recommends policies and budgets to cover the gaps.
  • Communicates and agrees the plan with the trade channel partner.
  • Identifies potential key business players in the market and proposes partnering with same in promotional activities.
  • Engages existing clients in consistent dialogue to get feedback on quality of service, and to identify needs thereof.
  • Carries out regular trade channel visits to gather intelligence on issues impacting on quality of customer service delivery
 

REVENUE GENERATION

  • Tracks usage for each key account - periodically in line with the target.
  • Plans and executes sales trips into specified regions to prospective new business
  • Inputs into the product and service charge propositions in a bid to improve product usage
 

ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

  • Formulates the account development growth plans and objectives per trade channel.
  • Assists Trade Channel Partners with growth strategies
  • Formulate strategies to increase the number of products in the market;
  • Sets trade channel and corporate trade terms to ensure business growth and reduce churn.
  • Carries out trade visits regularly and monitors competitor activities and initiates activities which give business competitive edge
 

CUSTOMER ACQUISITION

  • Develops and execute customer calling plan.
  • Builds customer relations as a way of revenue assurance.
 

TRADE ACTIVATIONS

  • Engages customers to agree the annual promotions calendar
  • Ensures effective implementation of promotions and other trade activations.
 

Key Decisions:

  • Decides on the business development, sales and distribution plan
  • Decides on customer density, product concentrations with reference to customers’ needs; and suitable partners to engage.
 

Accountable for:

  • Achieving revenue generation targets
  • Customer acquisition
 

Formal Qualifications Required

  • A commercial Degree in Business Studies, Marketing, Economics or equivalent.
  • A vocational qualification - desired
 

Role Related Experience Required

  • 2- 4yrs Experience in the business development and proven record of innovations with some work done in the payments industry.
 

Role Related Knowledge Required

  • Understanding of digital payment industry and operational capabilities
 

Role Related Skills Required

  • Excellent communication skills; both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships
  • Ability to negotiate, interact and achieve targets
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
