About the position

GENERAL SUMMARY: The position calls for a individual to promote and sell products and services as offered by the Company. These include, amongst others, Commercial and Industrial Laundry Equipment, Heavy Duty Industrial Laundry Equipment, Industrial Catering Equipment, Domestic Home Appliances and Laundry Solutions. The Sales Consultant will work in close collaboration with and alongside the Branch Manager, as well as the Johannesburg Management Team. The candidate must be able to travel, being away from home on remote area trips.

PRODUCT RANGE AND BRANDS: Equipment/Machinery includes, but is not limited to, commercial and industrial washing machines, tumble dryers, ironing equipment and a range of industrial catering equipment such as ovens, fryers, cookers, fridges/freezers etc. Company represent top international brands such as Speed Queen, Girbau, Tullis, Jensen and Fagor.

CORE FUNCTIONS:
•Phones – to be answered immediately and professionally.
•Promote, sell and secure orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
•Perform professional presentations or demonstrations of company product(s) and services(s) to existing and potential customers and to assist them in selecting those best suited to their needs.
•Enquiries logged – immediately and all info to be accurately recorded on the system.
•Penetrate all targeted accounts and radiate sales from within the company’s client base and generate new leads.
•Emphasize product / service features and benefits, quote prices, discuss credit terms, and prepare reports.
•Build and foster a network of referrals and create new opportunities.
•Generate and develop new customer accounts by cold calling.
•Ensure that follow ups are done to quotes.
•Actively manage and schedule to adequately cover assigned territory in a time-efficient manner.
•Maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner.
•Use marketing data by using applicable sales management software tools to maximise sales efficiency and effectiveness.
•Maintain accurate records, including sales call reports and expenses.
•Quotes – to be completed accurately and sent to customer same day.
•Orders – values and order numbers must be captured on the system.
•Etiquette - to be always well-mannered. Handle queries as far as possible to resolve.


MAIN OBJECTIVE:
•To grow the business and market share within the region, increasing the overall turnover and profitability.


REPORTING STRUCTURE:
•Reports directly to the Branch Manager: Durban.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
•Candidates should be of a mature nature that can work and perform under pressure.
•Technical knowledge/-experience are essential.
•Excellent communicator with proven experience.
•Computer literacy with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel. CRM and or accounting software experience will be an added advantage.
•A minimum of 3 years working experience in a similar environment/position.
•Must have a relevant Tertiary qualification.
•Must have demonstrated the ability to be a keen learner with a “make it happen attitude”.
•Must be fast learner and must be able to work both independently and within a team environment.
•Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
•Quality- and productivity focused.
•Must have valid driver’s license.


HOURS OF WORK AND SALARY PACKAGE:
•Working hours 07h30 to 16h30 Monday to Friday. Assist with other branch related issues. Process and manage customer requests after hours and on weekends.
•Basic Salary: R15 000 to R20 000 monthly depending on experience.
•A Company vehicle is provided for travelling to work and for business purposes.
•Discretionary 13th Cheque in December based on performance.
•50% Medical Aid contribution– Discovery Classic Saver.
•Pension fund contribution by the company of 4.75% and 2% by the employee
•Life Insurance Cover – equivalent to 2 years annual salary.
•15 Days Annual leave increasing to 20 Days after year 5.
