The Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Perform accurate and timely bank reconciliations across all company accounts.
- Manage and monitor daily cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
- Prepare and maintain annual and monthly budgets in collaboration with department heads.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
- Compile and submit bank applications, including credit facilities and other financial instruments.
- Prepare and submit Employees' Tax (PAYE) returns in accordance with SARS requirements.
- Calculate, prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.
- Calculate provisional tax and prepare supporting workings (submission handled separately).
- Track and reconcile intercompany transactions and ensure accurate allocation across entities
- Maintain fixed asset registers and process monthly depreciation journals.
- Process and review general ledger journals, ensuring accuracy and proper supporting documentation.
- Assist with internal and external audit preparations and provide relevant supporting schedules.
- Monitor and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Maintain up-to-date financial records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support the Group CFO with ad hoc financial reporting and analysis.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:
- SAIPA qualification (registered and in good standing with SAIPA)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 2–3 years' relevant accounting experience.
- Proficient in Xero accounting software (essential).
- Proficient in SimplePay payroll software (essential)
- Hands-on experience with SARS eFiling (essential)
- Strong working knowledge of South African tax legislation (SARS compliance)
- Experience in a multi-entity or group accounting environment advantageous
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans (written and spoken)
- Valid driver's licence advantageous
