About the position
A construction company requires the above to play a critical role in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, managing site safety programs, and driving a strong culture of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) awareness across large-scale steel mining pipeline projects.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Relevant safety management / occupational health and safety qualification is preferred for the role (e.g. SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or equivalent).
- Previous experience having worked on steel pipelines within the mining industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of steel piping construction and welding safety practices is essential for the role.
- Strong knowledge of construction and steel pipeline to the mining industry safety regulations is preferred.
- An understanding of welding, QC processes, and steel pipeline construction methods is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for training and engaging site teams.
- Must have strong report-writing, administrative, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to identify risks proactively and implement effective safety measures.
- Resilient, detail-oriented, and capable of managing safety in high-pressure project environments is essential.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations, managing site safety programs, and driving a strong culture of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) awareness across large-scale steel mining pipeline projects.
- Implementing and enforcing site-specific safety policies, procedures, and standards.
- Conducting safety inductions, toolbox talks, and regular training sessions for site teams.
- Monitoring site activities to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Inspecting construction, welding, and piping activities for hazards and non-conformances.
- Investigating incidents, near-misses, and accidents, preparing reports, and driving corrective actions.
- Maintaining accurate records of safety inspections, audits, and compliance documentation.
- Supporting Quality Control (QC) processes where safety overlaps with welding and pipeline works.
- Collaborating with site supervisors and project managers to integrate safety into daily operations.
- Auditing subcontractors’ compliance with company and client HSE requirements.
- Preparing reports and dashboards for management and client review.
- Travelling to various project sites, including cross-border assignments, as required.
Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
