About the position
Job Purpose:
To ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations on-site, minimise risks, and maintain a safe working environment for all employees, subcontractors, and visitors involved in aluminium and façade installation projects.
Key Responsibilities:
?? Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act) and company policies
- Implement and monitor site-specific Health & Safety Plans
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments
- Ensure all safety files are up to date and compliant
?? Site Monitoring & Control
- Enforce the use of PPE (helmets, harnesses, gloves, etc.)
- Monitor high-risk activities (working at heights, glass installation, lifting operations)
- Stop unsafe work practices immediately
?? Incident Management
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses
- Compile and submit detailed incident reports
- Implement corrective and preventative measures ?? Training & Inductions
- Conduct site safety inductions for employees and subcontractors
- Provide toolbox talks and ongoing safety training
- Ensure all workers are competent and certified for their tasks
?? Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain safety registers, checklists, and compliance records
- Ensure subcontractor compliance (medicals, PPE, legal documents)
- Submit weekly/monthly safety reports to management ?? Contractor & Client Liaison
- Work closely with site managers, project managers, and subcontractors
- Attend safety meetings and audits
- Ensure compliance with client-specific safety requirements
Key Requirements:
?? Qualifications
- National Diploma or Certificate in Health & Safety
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Fall Protection Plan (advantageous)
?? Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in construction/site safety
- Experience in aluminium, glazing, or façade installation is highly advantageous
?? Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations
- Attention to detail and hazard identification
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Ability to work under pressure and enforce rules Key Focus Areas (Industry-Specific):
- Working at heights (scaffolding, suspended platforms)
- Glass handling and installation risks
- Use of power tools and lifting equipment
