Position: Rope access technician
Location: Prospecton, Durban
Our client provides professional cleaning, hygiene and pest services to the commercial, industrial and corporate sectors. They are seeking an experienced Rope access technician to join their team.
Overview of position: A Rope Access Technician is responsible for performing various tasks at heights using specialized rope access techniques. These technicians work in challenging environments such as construction sites, offshore platforms, wind turbines, and industrial facilities. Their primary focus is on safety, efficiency, and quality workmanship.
Responsibilities:
Rope Access Work: Perform rope access tasks, including inspection, maintenance, repair, and installation of equipment and structures.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), harnesses, and ropes.
Equipment Setup: Rigging and setting up rope access systems, ensuring stability and reliability.
Inspections: Conduct visual inspections of structures, equipment, and components to identify defects or issues.
Maintenance and Repair: Address maintenance needs, repair structural components, and replace faulty parts.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspection reports and maintenance logs.
Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other team members, communicating clearly and following instructions.
Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies, such as rescuing personnel from heights.
Quality Assurance: Ensure work meets quality standards and specifications.
Qualifications:
Certification: Possess a valid IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) certification (Level 1, 2, or 3).
Physical Fitness: OHS Medical Certificate stating fitness for Work at Height.
Experience: Practical experience in rope access work is preferred.
Safety Awareness: Strong safety awareness and commitment to following safety guidelines.
Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical challenges while working at heights.
