About the position

An exciting opportunity exists for a dynamic and ethical Risk Officer to support the Risk Manager in delivering risk management, anti-corruption, integrity management, and forensic investigation services within a public sector environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree/National Diploma in Risk Management, Finance, Auditing, Accounting, Forensic Investigations, or Law
  • Membership with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) or Institute of Commercial Forensic Practitioners (ICFP)
  • CFE or FP accreditation will be advantageous
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in risk management and fraud investigations within the public sector or a State-Owned Entity

Key Competencies & Knowledge:

  • Sound knowledge of Public Service legislation, PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and corporate governance principles
  • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and anti-corruption/integrity management practices
  • Proven experience in forensic investigations, digital forensics, data analytics, and fraud prevention tools
  • Excellent analytical, report writing, stakeholder management, and communication skills
  • High levels of discretion, integrity, and professionalism

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct proactive and reactive forensic investigations, including fraud risk assessments and data-driven investigations
  • Manage whistleblowing reports, investigation processes, and evidence records
  • Draft and present investigation reports to executive and governance structures
  • Coordinate the implementation of risk management and anti-corruption frameworks
  • Facilitate operational risk assessments and maintain the organisational risk register
  • Monitor risk reporting and support management in embedding risk practices across business processes
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including law enforcement and regulatory bodies
  • Support governance reporting, combined assurance initiatives, and ethics awareness programmes
