About the position

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Risk Manager to oversee and manage the risk function for a team of two staff members in the insurance industry. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to ensure the business operates within a controlled and compliant environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of two risk staff members, providing guidance, support, and performance management.
• Develop, implement, and maintain risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures to minimize risk exposure.
• Conduct risk assessments, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk management programs.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and industry standards.
• Liaise with internal departments and external regulators on risk-related matters.
• Report on risk management activities and risk mitigation progress to senior management.
• Provide strategic insights and recommendations for continuous improvement in risk management processes.

Qualifications & Experience:

• BCom degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
• RE 5 (or RE 1) certification is a requirement.
• At least 5 years of experience in risk management, preferably within the insurance industry, with a preference for short-term insurance experience.
• Experience managing or mentoring a team is beneficial.
