Risk Analyst

About the position

Our client is looking for an experienced Risk Analyst to join their team. The position forms part of a highly driven and collaborative team promoting a sound risk culture within the business enabling and supporting the Group in achieving the strategic and operational objectives.

Responsibilities include:

• Facilitating the risk processes (risk assessment, identification, management, reporting & optimization) across the business including IT risk analysis, to identify and assess the risk to IT and applications
• Engaging with the business in identifying practical solutions to mitigate key risks and addressing control and process weaknesses identified
• Remaining close to the business, engaging regularly and having a deep understanding of the risks and issues facing the business and the state of the control environment
• Making recommendations for control improvements on the systems and procedures being reviewed and reporting on these findings, open exposures, and recommendations after discussing with management
• Investigating risk incidents which include root cause analysis, rectification assessment, propose and testing the design adequacy of control improvements
• Performing risk assessments as part of various business projects and initiatives
• Providing expert advice and consultancy with respect to risk management practices and concerns
• Assisting in the education of staff/promoting risk awareness throughout the Group
• Researching and staying abreast of worldwide best practice and regulations
• Working closely with the Internal Audit and Compliance Functions to provide a combined assurance assessment of the risk management within the firm

Requirements:

• Relevant Honours degree in Commerce, Information Systems, or Risk Management
• A CA (SA) or similar qualification will be advantageous
• 8-10 years related experience (enterprise-wide risk management) at an asset manager or financial services provider is preferred
• Strong analytical, investigative problem solving and assessment skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Outstanding report-writing skills and presentation skills
