Rigger Supervisor (Construction Mining – 6-Month Contract – Louis Trichardt, Limpopo)

We’re searching for a skilled and experienced professional with:
- Certification: Valid Rigger Certification (additional safety qualifications such as Crane Operator or First Aid are advantageous).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a Rigger Supervisor or in a similar rigging role.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of rigging techniques, equipment, and safety standards.
- Planning Expertise: Proven ability to plan and coordinate lifting operations, including load calculations and equipment selection.
- Safety Focus: Strong knowledge of safety regulations, risk assessments, and compliance procedures.
- Communication Skills: Fluent in English and/or Afrikaans with strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
- Technical Proficiency: Computer literacy is essential.
- Mobility: Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transport.
- Availability: Flexibility to work weekends and overtime as required.
Key Responsibilities
In this critical role, you’ll be responsible for:
- Identifying workplace hazards and implementing solutions to mitigate risks.
- Supervising and coordinating rigging teams to ensure all activities are carried out safely and efficiently.
- Planning and overseeing the setup and operation of rigging systems for heavy equipment and materials.
- Ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Conducting risk assessments and enforcing the use of appropriate PPE and safety measures.
- Inspecting and maintaining rigging equipment to ensure safe operation and compliance with standards.
- Providing training and mentorship to rigging crews, promoting safe and effective rigging practices.
- Collaborating with site supervisors and project managers to align rigging tasks with overall construction timelines.
- Managing lifting plans, including load calculations and proper equipment selection for heavy materials.
- Monitoring progress, addressing any issues, and ensuring timely completion of rigging activities.
- Maintaining detailed records of rigging inspections, maintenance, and daily work logs.
- Ensuring all rigging equipment and lifting devices are properly stored and secured when not in use.
